Maya has turned out beautifully...

Its not yet over.. But it is beautiful. I am proud of it.

Who do we look good for?

An article on this featured the latest Sunday review of the times.

Interesting perspectives on people from the entertainment industry.

What interests me the most today is being diplomatic is so not in !! The "in" thing is to blatantly admit the truth or sometimes even make up something not that "priestly" to catch attention.
No one wants any idols and Teresa's over the place. What has more entertainment value is frankness and having the guts to own up to the fact "that yes we are human". And after all nobody is perfect. Except for me of course... I am nobody ;) Sorry!!

Anyways getting back to the point of who do we wanna look good for? In other words who do we try and impress?

Let me first put down my take on it before pointing fingers at the others which I will most def do.

I never really put thought into it. It was always like there are a few days I put a lil effort to look good, a few when I just say "what the heck!" and the rest are just vanilla. As far as people go,

Men - general public i.e men u don't know - Well some always stare. Be it any of these 3 situations. So its def not for them.

Men - the ones u know. OK yeah maybe... if he's someone special.. and you might wanna catch his attention. But then he puts you off and says , "Well I didn't even notice.. u always look good."
Boo hoo ! So it shouldn't be them.
But shoulda woulda coulda we still do it ! :)

Women - again the ones u dunno - caught a bitchy look? Woah! My day is made! I am def looking rocking. So this is more fun than anything! Its some thing called self gratification.

Women - now coming to the ones you know. Well if they are your very good friends. Its an honest opinion and its always taken as a compliment. If they aren't your v close pals and just acquaintances or just a girl who looks at you from the corner of her eye. A criticism or a sad piece of humour from them, implies that you are looking stunning baby! So just don't even think twice.

So obviously sad but true, not only me but most of the women dress for the other women(more often than not). We are weird. A wise man once told me,"You spend so much money on foot wear. We don't even notice it." That wise man was my dad. And yet I never stopped buying footwear. I know one thing and that is that I notice it.

I guess I have harped a lot. Sometimes I don't understand how I can write so much about such "irrelevant" topics! Well as you can see, I can :)

Vermin

Also known as poison for the people here who didn't know.

What can it do?

Instant death or slow death.

What is better?

One thing is for sure, no one would survive.

My question... my friend?
What is better?
Instant death or slow death?

Instant... no idea of what happened.
Slow - test of torture

Is this symbolic?
If it is... wouldn't it be more painful?

Yes it is symbolic.
Yes it is more painful.

Is this a test?
Maybe a bitter sweet symphony.

Will you be alive once its over?

Let it be over first.

But what would come first?

Being over or being dead.

A harmful post after all. Harmful to the mind.
Yes people life is beautiful. Its just not harmless all the time.

Ooooooooooooohty

As upsetting as last week was, the weekend turned out to be a bundle full of joy!

A friend came to rescue with the idea of this amazing break. I agreed. Like I had anything better to do. :-)

I would like to thank the telecom dept all over for allowing 4 way conversations in one call. Yes I agree some companies will soon go under. In any case, getting back to the trip, the details of the trip i.e the Location, time, place of stay were decided on this conference.

I got woken up at 5 in the morning. I dunno why my friend did not believe my alarm. To top of it all, after I managed to answer his call at 5 I was accused of sounding like a mouse. :-(
"Sher ko jaga ke bolta hai u sound like a mouse" !!!! Panga #86758

So there we were, all 5 of us. With one exception, gulls was on call. He maintained that status till the point where the signal ditched him. The commentary stopped and his relationship with K750i came to a halt. For sometime. Just for sometime. :-) Don't kill me gulls... I was nice to you all through the trip... These guys were the ummmm beep beep!!

The journey lasted about 6-7 hours. The halts in coffee day, a dingy looking shop were fun! The pictures say it all. The journey was good because of a few reasons. Afterall everything in life has a reason other than "why do u smoke?"

Reasons:

1). Good taste in music. Dhantu you rock! Excellent cd for the hours traveled.
Whenever I listen to a few songs I will remember the journey!
We sang together
"Kyu aajkal neend kam khaab zyaada hai...
Kya mujhe pyaar hai.... ayeeeeeeeee yaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!"

2). The captain. Needless to say.

3). Roopich's puppet dance. ;-)

Last but the best... We were having FUN!

The hotel was a delight, well it had to be. It was going to leave holes in our pockets :)

Ooooooh ty was oh so cold! Thank god for all the cardigans!

The thermally maintained pool, so as to say. Well it wasn't maintained. The boys don't agree. It was icy people!

Gulls knows right places. Have to give him a lot of credit to him for Lounge Bar. Never expected a place like that in Ooty. The music exceeded expectations and we invited the DJ to come play here, we know where he could be. Yes my friends, Fuga needs him desperately. The place did meet its expectations when they showed their shock on being asked for cranberry juice. Well we felt sorry, that we asked. :-) All in all, amazing music and I danced without a break. There was no time for a break, each song was better than the last one. Felt a high.. Not the booze but just life! Aliens wasn't that great... But everything is fine when on a high. Dhantu would agree. :-)

Botanical gardens, the boat ride, the train journey to Conoor left us tired. But then the photo shoot was pretty amazing. Our current wallpapers feature them. And people are jealous! Now not everybody is destined for excellent weekends. Wicked!

A sauna sucks out all the little energy left in you. Going to dinner was a titanic task, but hitting Aliens seemed easy again. I wonder how the human mind works ;)

Bluff late in the night. Some people never learn. Some people learn it too well !

There are just too many bits and pieces which were so damn hilarious then. The moments can never come out that well in print. I would just leave it all here.

It was an excellent 3 day break. We all agree. Getting back to work on Tues. Well that pretty much sucked! The only reason the day went by was thanks to the pics!

Lets rock and roll ! Delhi... You are next baby! ;)

Acceptance

I was in school when I heard first about homosexuality, I did not believe it. I thought it was a new fad to our gen X. It was just a good joke.

As time passed by, a lot of people including friends and acquaintances accepted that there orientation was different from what was considered "normal". I thought they were just being brainwashed by a new fad. When asked to speak, I said, "Don't be silly. It can't be." Obviously I wasn't the right person for a heart to heart for this issue.

It was not discussed further. The reason me and many other people didn't believe in it was because it had never come up before and it was not something "normal" or even a hush hush word like sex. It was new. There was no problem in acceptance, the problem here was belief. It was a new concept.

But after many forced discussions, articles, TV shows I realized it was not a new concept that was catching everyone's attention. It was something that was always there. People all over the world, every caste, creed, religion and class had individuals who had different orientations. What opened my eyes even more was that it was more prevalent in the villages of India. I saw a documentary somewhere which featured these women who felt this way but had no idea why they felt this way. It never was a norm and hence it never came out.

Till just a few years back, it came to a level when calling someone a gay or a lesbian was quite a joke. It was a good joke and sometimes it even came in the same category of an abuse. :-)

Today its all over the place. Its still not considered normal in every sector of our society and our country. But then, its more relaxed. It has become reality and is no more a fad.

There are too many things done behind the closet and when they finally spring out, its hard they get any acceptance. Too much of hoo haa starts around the whole matter. The society, the media, the politicians, the varied opinions and perspectives that no one asked for are given. It becomes harder for people then who were brave enough to accept.

Its a funny place. First a taboo, then a fad then finally normal. Why these phases?
